NCRI - Two men have been publicly lashed in Iran for offences of disturbing public order and mischief.

The pair named only as K.A. and M.M. were each given 40 lashes in Chamestan County, in Mazandaran province.

Public floggings have soared in Iran in recent months in a bid to spread fear amongst the country's youth and suppress to prevent public expression of dissent.

The regime's State Security Force lashed a young man 45 times in public on the back of a pick-up truck while his hands and feet were chained in early December.

The barbaric punishment was carried out in a village in Fars province, with a population of fewer than 700 inhabitants.

The number floggings across is Iran is much higher than officially announced.

Iran sentences popular rapper to death for supporting Mahsa Amini protests

An Iranian court has sentenced to death a popular rapper jailed for more than a year and a half for supporting nationwide protests sparked by Mahsa Amini's death, local media reported Wednesday . "Branch 1 of Isfahan Revolutionary Court sentenced Toomaj Salehi to death on the charge of corruption on Earth," the singer's lawyer Amir Raisian said, quoted by the reformist Shargh newspaper.
